Cake decoration pack
Driving down unit cost is the icing on the cake
Our customer is a market-leading manufacturer of confections, decorations, and inclusions to enhance desserts, ice creams, cakes, muffins, tray bakes, doughnuts, cookies and beverages. They were looking for a supplier partner to help them achieve two key priorities: the desire to reduce the weight of their 100ml jar for cake decorations; and to improve filling line efficiency in any other way possible.
Our solution
Robinson’s design, technical and manufacturing teams offered expertise on the pack design and functionality. We also provided technical support to the supplier of the pack closure and were actively involved in filling line trials.
Switching to Robinson brought our customer and the consumer a number of tangible benefits. The new PET jar delivered sustainability benefits through a 25% reduction in weight compared to the previous jar, offering the associated efficiencies in transportation and reduced carbon emissions. In addition, it is widely recyclable and made with 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) PET making it part of a circular packaging solution. Another feature and benefit was the switch to a tamper-evident cap removing the need to add a shrink sleeve, further saving materials and improving efficiency on the filling line.
The new pack has proved a firm favourite with a range of high street retailers. It is manufactured in the UK at Robinson’s Stanton Hill plant in Nottinghamshire, UK.
